The Luxe Pillar: Designing Joy Into Your Life

The third pillar of the Endura Method might be Kim Abrego's favorite, and it's also the one most people misunderstand. Luxe isn't about yachts, private jets, or expensive purses. It's about intentionally designing small, repeatable moments of joy into a life that's otherwise consumed by achievement.
High-achieving women, Kim argues, are experts at delaying gratification. There's always a reason it's not the right time: too busy, not deserved yet, feels self-indulgent. Kim is blunt about pushing back on that instinct: “This is what you've worked for.” Left undesigned, joy simply doesn't happen on its own.
The pillar's origin is a hard one. Kim's best friend passed away suddenly and unexpectedly: someone who, by every account, lived fully in every moment, whether that meant karaoke at a party or singing along in the car. Her friend used to tell her, often, to slow down and enjoy what she'd built. Kim's answer was always “later.” After the loss, that answer changed. None of us, she realized, are guaranteed later.
What follows in the episode is a tour of what Luxe actually looks like in practice, and it's smaller than people expect. A nightly bath with candles, protected as sacred time regardless of what else is happening in the house. A hand-painted coffee mug from her kids, and a few intentional, quiet moments with that first cup of coffee each morning. Writing in a journal every day with a gold pen filled with purple ink, now a personal signature.
Kim draws a distinction between two types of Luxe: daily or weekly rituals that ground you (the bath, the coffee, the journal), and more spaced-out, planned experiences: a Michelin-starred dinner when traveling, or a monthly outing locally. Both matter, and both require intention rather than waiting for the mood or the time to magically appear.
The episode closes with a practical exercise, borrowed from entrepreneur Alex Hormozi (Kim notes she isn't fully certain of the attribution): look back at your best days, identify what made them good, and repeat those things. Micro-bursts of joy, whether that's a song you love or a spontaneous dance party, calm the nervous system and create the fuel for everything else the Endura Method asks of you.
