The Lift Pillar: Building the Foundation for Success

Of the three pillars in the Endura Method, Lift comes first, and for Kim Abrego, it's personal. In this episode, she traces the pillar back to a teenage mental health crisis, two hospitalizations, and the slow, trial-and-error process of building behaviors that could carry her forward.
Long before social media made wellness advice ubiquitous, a teenage Kim started experimenting: What happens if I go outside in the morning? What happens when I journal? What happens when I actually sleep well? Those experiments, refined over years, became the foundation of what she now calls the Lift pillar: movement, sleep, and nutrition, the non-negotiables that set up everything else.
Kim is emphatic that Lift doesn't require hours a day. The goal isn't a perfect four-hour wellness routine; it's identifying the small number of behaviors that create compounding returns. Chief among them: sleep. “If you are exhausted, everything else is downhill from there,” she says: you won't have the energy to work out, and your body will crave quick, low-quality energy instead of what actually fuels it.
On movement, Kim pushes back on the idea that Lift means lifting weights in a gym. It doesn't have to. The goal is building or retaining muscle, through whatever movement someone actually enjoys, whether that's structured strength training, walking, or yoga, because muscle mass supports everything from insulin sensitivity to longevity to how simply capable your body feels day to day.
On nutrition, Kim shares a story about her hairdresser, who wasn't eating enough calories simply because she didn't have time. Rather than prescribing three meals and two snacks, Kim's advice was to meet her where she was: start with a high-calorie protein smoothie during the commute to work. It's a small example of a larger philosophy, support people where they actually are, not where a perfect protocol assumes they should be.
The throughline of this episode is that these three pieces, sleep, movement, nutrition, compound on each other. Better sleep supports better workouts. Better fueling supports better sleep. Dial in the foundation, Kim argues, and everything else, Love, Luxe, and life in general, gets dramatically easier.
